Restoration Monitoring
This week we are starting the restoration monitoring for the Beauly to Denny overhead line. The Beauly to Denny project involved the construction of 615 new electricity pylons over 220km.
Restoration is broadly defined as the act, process, or result of returning a degraded or former habitat to a healthy, self-sustaining condition that resembles as closely as possible its pre-disturbed state.
This year’s monitoring will enable us to evaluate the level of natural regeneration at each tower and access track location since the completion of the project. We will be able to identify where natural regeneration of habitat is slower and look to undertaken additional methods to help speed up overall restoration of the habitats across the project.
